I have a family member who is immunocompromised for the rest of her life because of a heart transplant. She had to leave her job working in a school because she can’t risk being exposed to people with COVID or now, kids whose parents don’t vaccinate them. After years of worrying she finally did get COVID after visiting her mother in law in her assisted living, despite the masking she does in public. She sustained further heart damage. Each state did what it thought best about schools. But to my mind, the writers of the Great Barrington declaration are utter assholes and I will remember them for it. Because they knew better.

I totally agree that we get bound up in False Choice fallacies all the time, and all the while the PTB love that we are 'either for us or you are against us' and duking it out in the street--R-B, mask-no mask, Palestine-Israel--all of it keeps us from discussing the issues which are on the table. "Don't look up" wasn't just about the comet--it's about the oppressive forces which own the world and by which we are crushed every day.
The "political" awareness about the topic of DR. Fauci is that the very NEED of discussion is that there should be a "scapegoat". A DR. in his profession, after decades of professional service, and being appointed to such a dubious position, did his best to address the important concepts to help the public health and wellness. Trying to hurt this guy after a lifetime of honest service would be an egregious action. He did his best in the Trump ! years, despite all of those a-idiots calling out bs. Please understand that all those are simply trying to blame, and you know better.
